Reflection: Project 2 Conference
Like the first conference, this one was extremely helpful. I now know how I need to improve my paper and make it more interesting. I'm used to a certain format when it comes to research papers, and since this project is referred to as a research paper, I wrote it the way I was taught. Unfortunately, that means that my paper was extremely boring. It also meant that there was a lot of passive voice as well as a heavy focus on the research itself rather than the conclusions drawn from it.
We talked about how I could fix that, especially the boring part. I plan on cutting a lot of specifics of the research out and focusing more on summarizing it so that I can apply it to my chosen community. I also need to focus more on my texts rather than burying them under a mountain of admittedly boring research.
We also discussed how I can make my paper flow better. My research isn't exactly cohesive because I had to get creative, and that lack of cohesion seems to show in my paper. My instructor mapped out a way that I can use my research in a more meaningful and put together way.
I have a game plan for how I'm going to make my paper better. I know what I plan on cutting from it, as well as how I plan to go about rewriting it. Now that I have a set plan in mind, I'm not as worried about my paper.
